The shade is hand-finished plaster over a ceramic composite core, so the surface has a soft, uneven texture rather than the flat sheen of molded resin. The silhouette is intentionally asymmetric, more cloud than sphere, and no two ship with exactly the same lumps and folds.

Light exits from the open underside only, so it washes down and out rather than glaring at eye level. A warm 2700K bulb reads best against the plaster finish, giving the whole shade a soft amber glow rather than a single bright point.

It hangs from a braided white cord on a round ceiling canopy, and the cord can be trimmed at install to set the drop height over a table or reading chair.
