Sylva Solid Wood Blade Ceiling Fan Light Quiet DC Motor Remote Control

The blades are solid sycamore rather than printed laminate, so the grain runs through the wood and the fan reads as a piece of furniture instead of an appliance. Four finish pairings are available, from grey with natural wood through to black with walnut.

The DC motor runs at roughly 40 decibels, quiet enough for a bedroom, with six speeds in both forward and reverse. Reverse is the one people forget: in winter it pushes warm air back down from the ceiling instead of creating a draft.

An 18 watt LED at 3000K is built into the housing, so the fan doubles as the room light and there is no second fixture to fit. It ships with a remote and works with an optional wireless wall switch. Blade to ceiling clearance is 14 cm, which keeps it tight to lower ceilings.
